What Can Affect the Cost — and Scope — of a Rewire?

  • What Can Affect the Cost of a Rewire?

Guide pricing may change because of property size, layout or construction; occupied working; restricted access; concrete floors or solid walls; existing wiring condition; additional points; decorative accessories; smart controls; specialist lighting; enhanced supplies; scaffolding; parking, tolls or congestion; out-of-hours work; hazardous materials; specialist flooring; and requirements outside the standard specification.

Making good, plastering, decorating, carpentry, moving furniture and reinstating specialist finishes are excluded unless specifically included in the written quotation. The final written quotation and agreed specification take precedence over any online guide price.

  • Does the Whole Property Need Rewiring?

Not every project requires a complete rewire. Depending on the existing installation, AC1 Electrical Services may recommend complete rewiring, selected circuit replacement, extension or refurbishment wiring, kitchen or bathroom rewiring, lighting or socket circuit replacement, a consumer unit or distribution board, dedicated equipment circuits, earthing and bonding upgrades, alterations following an EICR, or isolation/removal of unsafe or redundant wiring.

The appropriate scope should be established through inspection, testing and a property survey.
